볼 빨간 돼지의 종이 모험 – An exibition concept from Graz in South Korea
From March 2024 to February 2025, the Children’s Museum FRida & freD in Graz presented the exhibition RITSCH RATSCH – The Rosy-Cheeked Pigs’ Paper Adventure. It focused on creative crafting as an important part of children’s holistic development, and was deliberately set in contrast to the digital use of screens. Illustrator Julie Völk created a visual world with rosy-cheeked piglets that brought the exhibition to life and playfully guided the children through it. The illustrations told a wordless story while also serving as backdrops against which the children’s interactions took place; in this way, their paper creations became part of the exhibition design.
In South Korea, paper is held in particularly high regard. Due to FRida & freD’s international connections, the Seoul Museum of History and the National Children’s Museum of Korea in Sejong took notice of the exhibition. They acquired the rights of use and organized the exhibition independently on site. The response has been particularly strong in South Korea, as the concept is specifically designed to offer a counterpoint to the country’s even more digitally driven daily life. Working with paper brings the art of creating with one’s hands back into focus and enables tactile experiences.
The exhibition will be on display in Seoul from 27 March 2026 to 7 June 2026 and in Sejong from 21 July 2026 to 28 February 2027.
